Puppy Love

Eli and I couldn't resist a morning walk in the freshly fallen snow.  The snow must have brought out the crazy side in these two pups.  For all you animal rights people out there, worry not, these two are the best of friends.  They fight like brother and sister.

Spring Fever

My old pal, sunshine, has decided to revisit Montana the last few days.  The kids and I, as well has the cat, enjoyed a sunny late afternoon.

Hide and Go Seek

My inspiration has gone missing.

Don't worry I found it again this morning while going through some old pictures I took of Mazey (my 6 year old daughter).

I found these pictures so refreshing.  Back then, having no formal training and little experience, the pictures seem so innocent, captured out of pure creativity.  My naive eye, just saw something that needed to be captured.  It was that simple.

Take a moment to reflect on where you have came from, it will leave you educated for the decision of where to place your next step.

Below Zero

Well winter is back........even if only momentarily.   I woke up to the sweet voice of my kids telling me it had snowed a 'gazillion' outside.

Sitting at my desk after dropping the kids off at school, my eyes roamed from the pile of dishes that needed washing, to the clothes that needed folding, to the fresh fallen snow out my front picture window.  What to do, what to do??

Ultimately, it really wasn't that difficult to rationalize going outside and snapping a few pictures.  The dishes and laundry aren't going anywhere.  The snow, now we just never know how long that will be here.  Decision made.

I love my neighbors across the field, whom I have never met.  They have horses and dogs just sitting outside waiting for me to take pictures of them.

The snow had stopped falling for the moment.  I was coaxing the horses over to the fence line with handfulls of carrots.  As I was backing up to get a differnt angle some wire decided to jump up and trip me.  In an attempt to protect my lens, I did some funky 180 degree jump move landing smack on my butt in a snow drift.  I swear those horses were laughing at me.

Off to reclaim my kitchen from the weekend, Enjoy!

Old dog, new tricks

I finally mustered up the courage to pursue some formal training in
Photography. RMSP puts on an extended weekend of classes. You're able
to pick and choose from a variety of classes in order to fit your
particular needs. And it's affordable

The following is an old photo that I took about a year ago. I had a
lot of fun running it through Lightroom applying some of the new
tricks I learned over the weekend.

Jada is so fun to photograph because she has those big beautiful eyes.
I love her expression in this photo and the texture in her hair
contrasted with her clean bright eyes is great.

I now know that her skin tone is almost exactly a middle gray
(midtone) and I would change my exposure 'in camera' next time. I
love natural lighting, but I might experiment with a little fill flash
to soften the shadows on the left side of her face.
Enjoy!
